What is Vinylmation™?Vinylmation™ is a fun and affordable collectible designer toy created by Disney Theme Park Merchandise. At its core, Vinylmation™ is about creative expression and the mysterious thrill of the chase. Where does the name "Vinylmation" originate?"Vinylmation" is a combination of the word "Animation," which is at the heart of The Walt Disney Company, and the word "Vinyl," which is the medium upon which creativity is expressed. Vinyl + Animation = Vinylmation™. The current Vinylmation™ Figure form we use is shaped like Mickey Mouse but does not represent the "character" Mickey Mouse. In other words, we aren't "dressing up" Mickey Mouse to look like something. This form is seen as a blank three-dimensional canvas upon which our Disney artists can express creativity from many angles. When was Vinylmation™ introduced?In development for approximately a year and a half, Vinylmation™ was introduced in mid-July 2008. The first Vinylmation® Item was a mystery pin set featuring pins inspired by figures from Park #1 and Urban #1. The first Vinylmation™ Figures introduced were the blank, white Create-Your-Own figures, which were released on November 7, 2008 at the annual Festival of the Masters event held in the Downtown Disney® Area at Walt Disney World ® Resort. Shortly after, the Park #1 Series was introduced on December 18, 2008 in Florida. Today, Vinylmation® is found at Disney Parks and Resorts around the world. Guests can also find Vinylmation™ on the internet - http://www.DisneyParks.com/Store. What kinds of Vinylmation™ Figures are offered?We currently feature a variety of figures including 1.5-inch limited release; 3-inch limited release and open edition; 9-inch limited edition; and other special figures and items. Each figure, series or collection has a specific story to tell. Our Disney artists bring to life classic Disney stories, attractions or icons in the Park series, or showcase their own edgy or graphic focused art styles in the Urban series. Other series, such as Holiday, Cutesters or The Muppets, tell a singular story around a particular theme. For select 1.5" or 3" limited release seres, there are typically a certain number figures. Most figures in the series are known (or pictured on the packaging), while some are unknown and called the "Mystery Chaser" (look for the black figure with the white question mark). Some figures are packaged in a "blind box" or "mystery box," which means you won't know which figure you are getting until purchased. You can purchase mystery boxes individually or you can purchase a whole tray. Buying an entire tray guarantees you the entire set of Vinylmation™ Figures from that collection. A tray also gives you additional Vinylmation™ figures to trade. Typically, there is only one mystery chaser per tray for most 3" Figure series; for Vinylmation, Jr., there are two chasers but only one of each per tray. Some 3" figures are sold in a window box, so you chose your favorite design. At certain times, select 3" figures may be paired with an extra surprise such as a 1.5" Vinylmation, Jr. figure. Select Vinylmation™ Figures may have additional items in their boxes, such as cards or stickers featuring the original artwork. There are also 9" Vinylmation™ Figures which are sold in window boxes. These larger-sized figures are typically limited edition and have a finite production number. They may be sold as an individual 9" Figure or paired with a 3" figure to make a set. We also offer unique one-of-a-kind masterpieces featuring original designs by Disney Artists. These one-of-a-kind figures may be offered at events, release parties or in select locations such as D-Street, the Vinylmation® "Motherships" located at the Downtown Disney® Areas in Califorina and Florida. Finally, Guests can design their own unique masterpieces with a variety of Create-Your-Own blank figures. The figures come in a variety of colors - white, black, red, yellow, purple and pink - and are available in 3" and 9" sizes. Where are Vinylmation™ Items sold?You can find Vinylmation™ Items at many merchandise locations at Disneyland® Resort in Califorina, Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida, Disney Cruise Line®, Disneyland® Resort Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland®. The best and first place to stop in California and Florida is D-Street, a place where urban inspired product "intersects" with a Disney creative edge. D-Street is considered the home for all things Vinylmation® - the "Mothership" if you will. In California, D-Street is located in the Downtown Disney® District; in Florida, D-Street is located at Downtown Disney® WestSide. Not visiting Disney Parks or Resorts anytime soon? No worries. You can find Vinylmation® on the internet 24/7 on the Disney Parks On-line Store. Finally, Guests will soon be able to find Vinylmation in select Disney Stores. The first location to carry Vinylmation&trading; items is the Disney Store at the Shops at Montebello in California. The grand opening of this new location will take place on June 29. What are the guidelines for Vinylmation™ Trading?Vinylmation™ Trading is something the whole family can enjoy. The most important guideline to remember is to have fun collecting or trading the Vinylmation™ Figures you like. Which one did you get?
Guidelines are subject to change without notice. Guests suspected of abusing the guidelines or the Vinylmation™ Trading process may be subject to, among other things, removal from the Resort premises. Where can I trade Vinylmation™ Figures with Cast Members?Below is list of locations where Guests can trade Vinylmation™ Figures with Cast Members. The best places to always find Vinylmation™ Trading are at the D-Street locations in California and Florida. Please note that availability of trading is subject to change without notice. Typically, any location that sells Vinylmation™ Items will also have trading. There may be additional locations added to this list as the excitement of Vinylmation™ Trading continues.

What does "Limited Release" mean?"Limited Release" means that a figure or collection will only be available for a certain period of time. Once a Limited Release figure or collection is gone, they're gone. We will "retire" (or stop producing) limited release items in order to make way for new limited release items. There is not a finite production number limited release items. What does "Limited Edition" mean?"Limited Edition" means there will be a finite number of a certain Vinylmation™ figures, collection or item manufactured and sold. The "foot stamp" (the text on the bottom of the figure) on the figure will list the edition size. The edition size may also be listed on the packaging. Once a limited edition item sells out, it will not be re-ordered again. For Guests, this is a unique opportunity to own a very special Vinylmation™ item. For example, if a figure has an edition size of 500, this means that you could be one of 500 people on planet Earth to own that item. What is the purchase policy on Limited Edition figures at Disney Parks and Resorts?Guests may purchase up to two (2) Limited Edition Vinylmation™ of a particular style (e.g. SKU), per Guest, per day. In other words, if a Vinylmation™ figure or set is released and it contains a Limited Edition stamp (Limited Edition of), a Guest may purchase up to two (2) of those items per day. The next day, a Guest can purchase another two of those same Limited Edition Vinylmation.™ This policy covers any 3 figures, 9 figures or sets stamped with the specific words Limited Edition. This policy does NOT include any Vinylmation stamped with Limited Release (as entire trays of Limited Release Vinylmation™ figures can be purchased). Disney reserves the right to modify this policy. In the rare instance a modification is made, this information will be communicated via Vinylmation.com. What are the Vinylmation™ purchase policies for the Disney Parks On-Line Store?The following "purchase limits" apply to Vinylmation purchases made via the Disney Parks on-line store. The Disney Store and the Disney Parks & Resorts teams have worked closely to create these limits which closely mirror the shopping experience at Disney Parks. Please note that we reserve the right to make modifications to these purchase policies. If a modification is made, we will communicate the change in advance of release. What is the value of this Vinylmation™ figure?
The true value of a particular Vinylmation™ figure is different for everyone. Every Vinylmation™ figure is special and unique, and every one has a story. That is the exciting part about Vinylmation™, there is an amazing variety of figures and collections.
Which collection of Vinylmation™ should I collect?With any collection, the key is collecting or trading items that are important to you. The best part about Vinylmation™ is that there are lots of choices of figures and collections. You can select ones that are important, and build a priceless collection full of stunning art, Disney memories, stories and friendships that will last a lifetime. How can I know which artist created the artwork for this Vinylmation™?For most Vinylmation™ figures, the footstamp contains the artist signature. Some collections, such as the Clear series, is not linked to a specific artist and does not have a signature on the figures. It's a place where urban art inspired product intersects with a Disney creative edge. In California, D-Street is located at Downtown Disney® District (near Vault 28) and opens at 10:00 a.m. In Florida, D-Street is located at Downtown Disney® WestSide and opens at 10:30 a.m. What are the wristband distribution guidelines at D-Street in California?Wristbands will be distributed entitling bearers to the opportunity to purchase limited edition Vinylmation™ released in association with a product release and/or signing. Wristbands for the limited edition Vinylmation™ will be distributed at D-Street in the Downtown Disney® District at 7:00 A.M. Wristbands will be available at the location until 1:00 P.M. or while supplies last. We kindly ask that Guests do not line up for wristband distribution prior to 6:00 A.M. The queue for wristbands will begin behind the Rainforest Cafe® in the Downtown Disney® District. Queued Guests will be escorted to D-Street, where wristbands will be distributed at 7am. D Street opens at 10:00 A.M. unless otherwise specified. In addition, holding a place in line for others in your party will not be allowed. Guests who wish to obtain a wristband to purchase a limited edition Vinylmation™ must be present when the line forms or they will be escorted to the back of the line. Wristbands will be valid for the purchase of the limited edition Vinylmation™ at D-Street in the Downtown Disney® District until 1:00 P.M. on the day of distribution. Wristbands are limited. At 1:00 P.M. wristbands are no longer valid. Lost, stolen or damaged wristbands will not be replaced. Wristbands have no cash value. Restrictions apply. Subject to change without notice. Is there a list of Disney Stores that will carry Vinylmation™?At the end of June 2010, we announced that select Disney Stores will be carrying select Vinylmation™ Series. Since that time, a variety of stores across the world have introduced Vinylmation™. The Disney Store team is expanding the number of locations in the United States that will carry select figures by the end of September 2010. The Stores will have select series available. This means not everything that you will not find everything that you find at the Disney Parks. Coming later, there will be some unique figures created especially for the Stores.
